Have some questions about our company? Find the answers below or contact us for more.

  • Why do you need Managed Cloud Backup & Disaster Recovery Services?

The world is unpredictable and disaster could strike at any time. The reason why businesses buy insurance is to protect their business from financial losses. However insurance alone cannot replace your business valuable data and the key applications that make your business work.

Your business could lose it's data through natural disasters, hardware failure, human errors or cybercriminals. Planning ahead and creating a backup and disaster recovery plan is extremely crucial for your business survival.

Because this is a process that should never be taken lightly, it is important to have a dedicated person or a team to monitor and verify all backups on a daily bases.

NB Technology provides this exact service and more a fraction of the cost hiring a dedicated staff to manage it. We plan, document, implement and monitor your data backup. And when a disaster strikes, our team are on hand to help your business restore and recover.

  • What is included in the Managed Backup service?

NB Technology includes a dedicated team that helps your business plan, document, implement and manage its system backup on a daily bases. We recommend and install the industry’s best performing backup appliances for local and cloud backup solutions. All backups are manually verified by a backup administrator for successful completion daily or hourly according to your company’s backup plan.

  • How often should I schedule cloud backups?

It really depends on how critical your data is to your organization and varies from business to business, but once a day at minimum is generally considered good practice. Pending your network bandwidth limitation, hourly is recommended for companies that cannot afford to lose an hour worth of data.

  • Do you need to back up your entire company’s computer systems?

Not necessarily, if your company’s computer systems are setup properly, as in a client/server environment, then backing up the physical or virtual servers may be sufficient. Otherwise, it is will be more cost effect to backup the essential systems that your business cannot live without.

Things to consider about disaster recovery backup are whether your business can recover its main systems to the point where your staff can resume work in a timely manner. With that said, there are two types of backups that you can perform. A Full System Image Backup and File-Level Backup.

  • Should you perform a Full System Image Backup and File-Level Backup?

Full System Image Backup: The best backup to perform is a full system image backup and here is why. With this type of backup the software takes an image of the entire hard disk of the system whether physical or virtual machines. In the event of any disaster, you will be able to restore the entire system to another computer, including the operating system, applications, browser history, preferences, settings, bookmarks, device drivers, and all of the files you created and downloaded. A full system image backup lets you restore the whole system and/or get back to a previous state fast.

File-Level Backup: With this type of backup, the software will only backup and restore specific files and documents selected for backup such as word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, photographs, videos, and audio files. Some businesses think that backing up only these types of files are all they need. Even though that this type of backup may work in some cases, it is a very time consuming task when restoring an entire system. Before the files can be restored, a system technician with first have to install and update the operating system, applications, setup preferences, and install the device drivers. It cost more in technical man hours and loss of company’s staff productive.

  • Should you perform a local and cloud backup?

Yes, the best backup and disaster recovery plan includes both a local and cloud backup. A local backup saves your data locally on your premises. Making it a quick and faster solution to restore your data in the case of a data loss.

Because of cybercriminals and natural disasters a cloud back is extremely important and should be implemented. A cloud backup provide your business with redundant backup of your data at a secure off-site data center far away from your current building. Cloud backups can be restored to anywhere and on dis-similar hardwares including cloud virtual machines.

If your business is only going to chose one backup location, then chose the cloud backup option.

  • When do you perform backup on our systems?

In order to reduce the load on your network we schedule backups at night when most users are off the network.

  • Can I do my own data backup?

Yes. This is one of the questions we are asked a lot. You certainly can do your own backup. You will have to find a reputable software to do it.

The problem we’ve found with businesses doing their own backup is that they are so busy doing their day to day work that no one is checking the backup to see if it’s backing up.

True Story: We were once called by a company to help them restore their data after their server crashed. We were told that their backup ran every night. As we reviewed the backup, we found out that the backup initiated but never completed successfully and this has been the case for the past 3 years. No one ever took the time to review and verify their backup. Unfortunately, we were unable to help them. They lost all customer’s database, their financial system database and history, and all their documents. That was a painful and costly lesson to learn.

Again, yes you can do your own data backup but make sure you verify it daily.

Better yet let our team remove this headache from your pile of todos, so that you can focus on the core aspects of your business that generate revenue and keep it running. Not only do we manage your backups, we also help your business restore its data in the event of a disaster.
